is based on a discounted Average Wholesale Price (AWP) plus
a professional fee for the pharmacy. Combined with our flexible
co-pay schedules designed for each employer, to reward members
for utilizing less expensive, equally effective products,
our pricing structure reduces employer expenditure. PPS
also offers a complete formulary of preferred vendors, but
with a twist. By establishing mutually rewarding relationships
between our employers and our contracted pharmaceutical
vendors, we return a greater savings to our employers. Finally,
our network of over 50,000 pharmacies has agreed to our
proprietary Maximum Allowable Cost (MAC) for pricing of
all generic prescriptions. Today, over 40% of all prescriptions
are generic, our MAC pricing substantially reduces overall
prescription expense.
